Instead of registering for pots, pans, dishes and towels at a department or specialty store, a Smart Honeymoon registry gives the couple the flexibility to create a wedding gift registry out of elements of the honeymoon they have planned. Register for items like romantic dinners, airline travel, accommodations and activities like horseback riding, scuba diving, and theater tickets. You make your plans and reservations -- your guests help pay for your honeymoon. So instead of giving you glasses that break, your guests can contribute towards helping you build memories that will last forever. A Smart Honeymoon registry makes a great companion registry to a traditional gift registry too. This gives your guests a choice. You'll find many of them will choose to use your Smart Honeymoon registry.
Smart Honeymoon is one of the least expensive honeymoon registry services available, and can be entirely free for the couple.
First, there are no up-front costs associated with creating and maintaining your Smart Honeymoon registry. The small 7.5% transaction fee on the gift total pays for credit card processing, website maintenance and hosting, unlimited phone and email, security, and other fees associated with keeping the registries online and available.
Additionally, the couple has two different options by which the fee can be assessed - the couple can choose to pay the fee from the proceeds of the gifts, or they can choose to have the guests pay the fee. If the guests pay the fee then the charge is added to the guest's bill at checkout, much like tax and shipping & handling, but usually less. This method means that the registry service is entirely free for the couple. The second option is where no transaction fee is added to the guest's total. The transaction fee is subtracted from the couple's registry gift total when the couple receives their gifts. The couple chooses their preferred method during sign-up and can change methods until the first gift purchase.
We have noticed the practice of some of the larger honeymoon registry sites where BOTH the guest and the couple are charged a fee, perhaps 7% for the couple and 3% for the guest. We believe that this is intentionally deceptive and want you to make the decision that's best for you.

You can add the Smart Honeymoon link to your personal websites or copy/paste it into an email and send it to your close friends and family. Be sure to inform your bridal party of your Smart Honeymoon Registry - they'll all help spread the word as well! Shortly after you register at Smart Honeymoon, we'll send a welcome email with a link that points directly to your registry. We'll also include code to put in your website that creates a Smart Button that will send guests directly there as well. If you don't have a wedding website, you can gracefully let guests know where you're registered by mentioning it on Facebook. Or you can create a page there just for your wedding!
Here is an HTML code snippit you can cut and paste to link to our homepage that has the catchy, rotating slides:

When you register with us, you have two options for how you will receive your registry funds. You can choose to receive your gift funds by check or direct deposit.
If you choose to receive your funds by check, then we will issue you a check for your registry total a few days after your wedding to account for last minute and late gifts. We can issue this check earlier; just let us know. If there are gifts after this check has been issued, then we will send an additional check a few weeks after your wedding.
If you choose direct deposit, then shortly before your wedding we will make a test deposit into your account. We will contact you to confirm the deposit. We will then deposit all registry funds on the business day before your wedding, with additional late gifts deposited weekly. Again, as we are flexible, please let us know what works best for you.
Treat a honeymoon registry like you would a traditional registry. Emily Post, the ultimate manners authority, has a great article on alternative registries. She says the honeymoon registry is appropriate and a great new option!
The couple has designed a registry around their honeymoon itinerary. Each item listed on their registry represents an experience they plan to have on one of the most exciting and romantic vacations of their lives. While there is no guarantee that the gifts will go toward the exact items purchased from the registry, you can be assured that your gift will be one that goes toward creating experiences that the couple will remember for a lifetime.
The couple will receive an email notification each time a purchase is made from their Smart Honeymoon Registry. The couple can also login to their registry and go to their main page at any time to view the gift total and see their Thank You list in real time. The guests have the option of keeping their identity secret until the wedding. In this case, the couple will not be able to tell who has made the purchase, allowing the guest to reveal their gift when they choose.
The couple receives an email notification each time a purchase is made from their registry. Additionally, the guest's purchase is added to the couple's Thank You list when the purchase is made. Optionally, when checking out, the guest can choose to be mailed a premium customized Gift Card to give to the couple for an additional $2.00. See a sample of the gift card.
